About Me

Shiloah Baker and girls

Meet my life

I’m a daughter of a Heavenly King, our Father.  I’m a Mormon.  I was raised around the globe via the military.  My dad was an Army helicopter pilot.  I was born in the Panama Canal Zone.

I met the man of my dreams in Central Texas through mutual friends.  We were married and sealed there in that area.

We have 11 great, amazing, and talented children.  Eight of these great kids have special needs of one sort or another from Diurnal Enuresis to Autism to ADHD to ODD and Down Syndrome.

Our family theme

After our beautiful daughter’s birth we decided to make this scripture their family motto:

“Shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, [Baker Family]; and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad. Let the earth break forth into singing.” (D&C 128:22)

We rejoice in our differences and are always learning of healthy, natural ways to heal the body and mind holistically.

Empowered Mom

After retiring The Homemaking Cottage website, I thought I would move on and not go back to writing online.  *Insert snicker*

God had other plans for me and soon I felt inspired to begin Empowered Mom. What is the Empowered Mom?  I feel empowered with all the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained over the years. I feel compelled to continue to pay it forward.  As an empowered mom, I hope to create a space for inspiration, thoughtful posts, and more– to create a tribe of women who are daily becoming empowered and successful in all they do.
